Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using Butler Housing ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Who May Use the Service

Butler Housing is intended for students affiliated with Butler University, Indianapolis-area landlords, and their authorized representatives. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or list a property.

3. Landlord Listings

Landlords are responsible for the accuracy of their listings, including rent, availability, property features, and any fees. Butler Housing does not verify listing accuracy and is not a party to any lease agreement between landlords and tenants.

Listing fees are one-time charges and are non-refundable once a listing is published. Featured listing add-ons and Tenant Finder subscriptions are subject to Stripe's payment terms.

4. Tenant Profiles and Messaging

Tenant profiles are visible to landlords on the platform. Contact information (email, phone number, social handles) is protected in messages until a landlord unlocks contact for a specific conversation. Butler Housing is not responsible for communications that take place outside the platform.

5. Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe. Butler Housing does not store credit card numbers. By making a payment, you agree to Stripe's Services Agreement . Subscription fees (Tenant Finder) renew monthly until cancelled. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period.

6. Prohibited Conduct

• Posting fraudulent, inaccurate, or discriminatory listings
• Harvesting contact information for spam or unsolicited marketing
• Using the Service for any purpose that violates applicable law
• Attempting to circumvent the contact-protection system
• Creating multiple accounts to evade bans or restrictions

7. Termination

Butler Housing reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, at our sole discretion and without prior notice. Active listing fees are non-refundable upon termination for cause.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. Butler Housing does not guarantee the accuracy of listings, the conduct of users, or the availability of the platform at any specific time.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Butler Housing's liability for any claim arising from your use of the Service is limited to the amount you paid to Butler Housing in the twelve months preceding the claim.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
